Learn the Future-Today! Introducing FlexRay EVB
(November 18, 2009)

Why Is FlexRay Relevant to You? FlexRay is the future replacement for CAN in many vehicle network architectures. This means that FlexRay knowledge will soon be required for your occupation.  The problem is that the learning curve of FlexRay is long. This means that to be ready, you should begin learning now. An understanding of FlexRay will both prepare you for your future, as well as give you more marketable skills.

The Major Problem ... So you decided you wanted a head start on FlexRay. The problem now is that to setup a basic FlexRay experimentation system, you need to invest tens of thousands of dollars. For those of us without a production program or research budget, it's going to be impossible to get anywhere. You're basically stuck reading the FlexRay specification. We can say from our own experience that this is as fun as getting a root canal at the dentist's office.

The Solution ... Intrepid Control Systems, Inc. has solved this problem (not the root canal problem, but FlexRay). Intrepid introduces the lowest cost FlexRay system on the market by creating a unique design that allows a full FlexRay network and monitoring tool on one low cost board ($750). It is available now from Intrepid's online store.

Benefits

  • Experiment with FlexRay technology at a low cost.
  • Rest Bus simulation of FlexRay networks.
  • Interact with the Bosch ERAY FlexRay Core using Windows Development tools, such as Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Use as a SPI peripheral to other microcontroller development boards.
  • Develop FlexRay / Handler ECU code on the PC.
  • Reconfigure FlexRay networks without using device programmers.

Please visit the FlexRay EVB website for more detailed information.

Free FIBEX Viewing Tool
(May 14, 2008)

FIBEX is a ASAM standard for Vehicle Network information. FIBEX purpose is a standard file format to allow tools to share vehicle network definitions electronically. FIBEX is the defacto industry standard way to share FlexRay cluster definitions. In the past OEMs usually used text based descriptions in Word documents or proprietary file formats to store this data. These formats were difficult or impossible to share across tools. Intrepid has created this tool for customers working with FIBEX files who want to learn more about the format. The tool allows you to view the files and search the FIBEX and FlexRay specification. Intrepid also supports loading FIBEX files in the Vehicle Spy application software for FlexRay applications.

The Tiny Fibex viewer page is located on our support site.

Free Tool - ICS' Tiny ODX Viewer
(Aug 24, 2007)

Intrepid has created this tool for customers working with ODX files who want to learn more about the format. The tool allows you to view the files and search the ODX specification. Intrepid also supports loading ODX files in the Vehicle Spy application software The ODX standard is a very large and "flexible" standard. This means that OEMs tend to implement ODX in different ways. While an OEM's implementation will vary from another's, ODX is still useful because much of the file format does remain the same. This allows an ODX parser to load and parse these different OEM formats with minimal software changes. Tiny ODX Viewer Page
